Credit Union files foreclosure notice against Beaumont couple

A credit union has filed a foreclosure notice against the owners of home on Avie Lane in Beaumont. 

Education First Federal Credit Union filed the application for an expedited foreclosure order against Devlin W. McCraney and Traci L. McCraney on Aug. 18 in Jefferson County District Court. foreclosure

Education First Federal Credit Union says the McCraneys took out a home equity line of credit on their home at 5435 Avie Lane in September 2013. The lender says the couple is five months late on repayments.

According to the complaint, as of Aug. 12 the McCraneys owe $5,125 in principal, interest and late fees to cure the default. The homeowners have an additional default for allegedly failing to maintain hazard insurance and failing to pay real property taxes in the amount of $2,311. 

The credit union says the total amount owed on the home equity promissory note is $166,735. Education First Federal Credit Union is seeking foreclosure of the lien encumbering the Avie Lane property. 

The credit union seeks an expedited order under Rule 736 so that it may proceed with the foreclosure.

Attorney Gary W. Coker of Germer in Beaumont represents the lender. 

The case number is Jefferson County District Court case B196-009
